You probably have a whole album of saved nail designs you’ve wanted to try. Maybe you wanted to switch it up with a new nail shape, but you’re unsure which nail shape would best fit your hands. Having the right nail shape that best fits your hand can enhance your nail designs. For example, some shapes can make your fingers look longer and wider, and others may give a more natural look.
Let me make your decision process a whole lot easier by giving you a breakdown of the different nail shapes and how each shape can compliment your hands.
But first, let’s get into the different nail shapes you are probably familiar with, watch the video of the different nail shapes and lengths that Melanated Nails Provides.
And here is a chart of all the nail shapes we will get into.
The oval nail shape comes in the length short to long that has a circular edge at the tip of the nail. Almond nail shape also ranges from short to long; It has slim sides with a circular tip and gets wider at the base. Oval is similar to round and almond, but the sides are straight with a semicircle tip.
These shapes compliment your hands if you have short fingers with round/ wide nail beds. Round/Oval nails help elongate your fingers and slims your wide/round nail beds. In addition, these shapes require less maintenance.
The square nail shape comes in the length short to long with straight sides and a straight top edge. This shape makes your nails look wider, complementing your hands if you have long fingers and narrow nail beds. This shape will make your hands look stubby and short if you have wider nail beds and shorter fingers. This shape requires low maintenance.
The coffin and ballerina nail shape range from short to long with a tapered point and squared-off tip. This shape best fits your hands if you have long nails, strong nail beds, and slim fingers. However, if you have weak and brittle nails or short nails, this shape will cause more breakage to your natural nails. Therefore, this shape needs more maintenance to avoid breakage.
The stiletto shape can range from short to long and is filed to a pointed tip. This shape best compliments your hands if you have long fingers and nails. However, this shape also needs more maintenance because it is susceptible to breakage and requires a strong nail bed.

People are usually hesitant to try press-ons because they believe that press-ons are cheap and do not last long. However, this is not the case; your nails can last from 7- 21 days, and here's how you can get your press-ons to last long.
Sizing is critical. Incorrectly sizing your nails can cause many issues.
If the press on nail is too big, the nail will not adhere to your nails properly and look unnatural.
If the press on nail is too small, the nail will prematurely lift or pop-off.
Maybe your press-on nails are between sizes, and you can't find the exact size; your best option is to file the nail that is slightly bigger, file around the nail edges to fit your exact nail bed.
When you skip proper nail prep, it will cause early lifting.
Here is how you can prep your nails properly to ensure no premature lifting.
Use one drop of glue at the center of your nail, take your press-on nails at a 45-degree angle, start from the bottom of your nails, and firmly hold down for at least 10-15 seconds to allow proper seal. At the same time, apply pressure, rotating pressure to ensure no bubbles and correctly sealed down.
Avoid using too much glue; it can get onto your skin, leading to premature lifting and poor seal.
When Using too little glue, it does not allow for the nail to properly stick to your nails which will also cause premature lifting.
After applying your press ons, do not wash your hands for at least 2 hours to allow the glue to dry and seal. Also, the water does not seep through while the glue is drying.
Having cute nails is nice and all, but it is essential to maintain healthy nails and have them look pretty. The use of cuticle oil and hand lotion gives moisture to your nail beds to promote healthy nails.
HERE IS AN AFTERCARE BUNDLE OF EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR NAIL BEDS MOISTURIZED.
To ensure you get the most wear out of your press-on nails, stop using your nails to open cans, jars, etc. Using your nails like this can cause your nails to break because it weakens the glue's hold.
Wear gloves while washing dishes to ensure your press-on nails last long because warm or hot water can cause your press-on nails to swell and pop off.
Now you can rock some press-on nails that last long. Are you looking for durable, long-lasting professional-looking press-on nails?
